Energize started as a distribution company. The job was to get family-friendly Afro-gospel from Lagos onto every streaming platform and to look after the artists who made it. That is still the job.

It stopped being the whole job fairly quickly. The artists were making culture as much as music, and the people listening kept asking for more than a track. They wanted shows. They wanted a room to be in.

So there are now three divisions under one roof. Energize Music handles the sound. Energize Central makes the shows, the radio slot and the stories. Energize Mind publishes essays and talks about how people see.

The Energize Nation is the community that turns up to all of it, from EnergizeFest in December to a Spirit Riddim night in Lagos. Energy is everything because it is what those rooms have in common.
